A very important and heart-breaking message for the whole Muslim Ummat of Rahmat-e-Aalam, Hazrat Muhammadur-Rasulullah (Sallallaaho Alaihe Wasallam), especially for the honourable Ulama-e-Ummat Ulama-e-Haqq/Aakhirat and the majority of the dumb scholars, more betterly known as the Ulama-e -Dunyaa and the Ulama-e-Soo.
I very strongly urge you to read the following pages very carefully and with deep attention and please try to take everything in and visualise the extent of the huge Christian Missionary problems, prevalent worldwide, especially in Bangladesh (where 16,000 kuffaar (shaytaani) missionaries are operating and making baatil efforts day and night converting millions of Muslims into renegades (murtad) upto the present day) and other countries like Brazil, Argentina, Australia (where 900 evil missionaries are operating).
Millions of people from the blessed Ummat of our beloved Nabi, the Crown of Medina Tayyibah Hazrat Muhammadur - Rasulullah (Sallallaaho Alaihe Wasallam), have become murtads (renegades). Yet the majority of dumb scholars and Muslims worldwide take no notice at all and continue living their lives of luxury and comforts . Oh Muslims! Tell me with what face you will go to Allah Tabaarak Wa Ta'ala and His beloved Nabi Aakhiruz - Zamaan Hazrat Ahmad - e -Mursil (Alaihis Sallatu Wassalaam) What answer will you give to Allah and His Rasul Muhammad (Sallallaaho Alaihe Wasallam)? Please ponder over this very deeply as we all have to die and present ourselves in the Court of Allah where no veils will be present.
Not long ago, Fidah-e - Millat, Ameer - e - Hind, Hazrat Maulana Sayyid As'ad Madni Saheb (Daamat Barakaatuhumul-Aaliyah) during his visit to England came to Preston about two years ago. Hazrat - Wala (Madda - Zilluhum) gave a speech in Quwwatul -Islam Masjid. In his bayaan Hazrat - Wala was mentioning the huge problems of Christian Missionery in Bangladesh etc. Hazrat mentioned that in Bangladesh a group of big Ulama-e-Kiraam sat down to do mashwiraah (mutual consultation). One great Aalim who is making efforts against these baatil missionaries related his dream in the beginning of the mashwiraah. He said to the effect that he saw the blessed Prophet Muhammad (Sallallaaho Alaihe Wasallam) in the dream who was crying forcefully and was very emotional and very sad. On being asked the reason, Rahmat-e-Aalam (Alaihis Sallatu Wassalaam) reprimanded saying that thousands of Muslims from my Ummat are becoming murtad and you Muslims (and Ulama-e-Kiraam of Bangladesh and worldwide) are engrossed in your comforts and pleasures.
Oh Muslims and our dear Ulamae-Ummat, let us get together collectively as a group like the Majlisul-Ulama of South Africa (presently under the supervision of Hazrat Maulana Ahmad Saadiq Des ai Saheb- Daamat Barakaatuhum. The Majlisul - Ulama write the following in one place:
THE PROJECT OF ISLAM - RAMADHAANUL - MUBAARAK 1420:
The response of the Muslim community to the Majlisul Ulama's call for fighting the onslaught of kufr and jahaalah in Bangladesh and other countries has thus so far been encouraging. It will be recalled that we had explained in ?The Majlis? (a monthly newspaper presenting Islam and the Sunnah in pristine purity. I advise all the Muslims, mainly the ?Ulama-e-Ummat? to prescribe to this newspaper) that if the menace of kufr and ignorance is not confronted, checked and neutralised, Bangladesh and other Muslim countries in the foreseeable future will cease to be Muslim states. The first stage of the global kufr is to alienate Muslims from Islam by means of Jahaalah, their severance from the Deen is then automatic.
At one time Malawi and Mozambique were majority Muslim countries. Today these countries are majority Christian regions. The Ummah at large is to a great extent liable for this tragedy (especially the Ulama-e-Ummat). A similar pattern is unfolding in Bangladesh and other Muslim countries. It is an incumbent (Fardh-e-ayn) obligation of Muslims to open up their hearts and aid enthusiastically the Majlisul Ulama's project to fight kufr and Jahaalah. More than the threat of poverty, is the grave danger of ignorance prevailing in Bangladesh. In hundreds of villages there exists no arrangements for providing the basic Maktab education to Muslim children. When such children are later exposed to western education, they become total kuffaar even while maintaining their Muslim names. In such a climate of kufr, jahaalah and poverty the Christian missionaries flourish. By a variety of stratagems the missionaries and ?relief organizations? impose their yoke of control over the poor and ignorant villages.
It is purely by the Fadhl of Allah Ta'ala that the Majlisul Ulama has entered the field in combating the forces of kufr and baatil which are operating a gainst Islam. The first and foremost task is to establish maktabs (small Madrasahs) to educate Muslim children so that tomorrow they may understand what Islam is; so that they maintain their identity as Muslims despite of the hardships of poverty. The first battle is against jahaalah (ignorance). It is in this arena that every Muslim must assist in whatever measure he/she is able to.
Since the inception of this project only by the Fadhl of Allah Ta'ala over 1000 Maktabs have been established around the world . Many boreholes have been sunk for providing water. More than 60 000 children are acquiring basic Deeni Ta'leem at these Maktabs in villages which previously were in total darkness. Our project envisages, InshaAllah, hundreds of Maktabs?one in each village! The cost of operating a bamboo and straw hut Maktab is about $1250 /£ 780 per year. This includes the wages of the Ustaadh which is nothing for Muslims living in U.K., U.S.A., Canada etc. In villages where a straw / bamboo Masjid exists, the same premises is used for a Maktab.By Allah's Fadhl many Muslims have generously contributed towards this project. We must emphasize that this is an on going Jihaad. It should not be regarded as a temporary project. The salaries of the Ustaadhs have to be paid. There are also auxiliary expenses related to the Maktabs. The number of Maktabs too have to be increased repeatedly. We, therefore again call on all Muslims to urgently open up their hearts and aid wholeheartedly in shouldering the responsibility of the noble and difficult mission. Contribute with an open heart and with dignity, for the sake of your salvation in the Aakhirah. It is your duty ? Fardh duty ?to push the stagnant wagon of the Ummah out of the quagmire of disaster.
There are many affluent Muslims in the Arab / UK / USA communities who have the means to sponsor a Maktab. There are again those who can sponsor more than one Maktab. Wealthy Muslims squander tens of thousands of pounds in futile and Haraam wedding functions and other futile pursuits. Surely they can step forward with a paltry amount to sponsor a hut - Maktab which will earn them places in Jannah. Those who cannot sponsor a Maktab, even their one pound is welcome (which will be used to combat these evil and shaytaanic missionaries). Allah Ta'ala looks at the Niyyah ? at the heart ? which accompanies the contribution.
We also intend to arrange Qurbaani animals in every village where a Maktab has been established. It will be a wonderful treat for those living in extreme poverty. The approximate cost of a cow is $250 / £ 156 or $40 / £ 25 per share. I n addition to making Qur'baani here at home, gain tremendous Thawaab by participating in our Qur'baani project for Bangladesh. Do send your contributions early. Preferably during Ramadhanul -Mubaarak or soon ther eafter, to enable us to plan and make necessary arrangements.
Please specify if your contribution is Zakaat or Lillah. While people do send Zakaat freely, they are somewhat not benevolent with Lillah funds. Remember that Sadqah does not decrease wealth . It increases it. This is Allah's promise! There is greater latitude in the use of Lillah funds. May Allah Ta'ala reward you magnificently for your concern and aid. Aamee n —Yaa Rabba l - Aalameen……

CHRISTIAN MISSIONARY PROPAGANDA IN BANGLADESH.
By, Hazrat Maulana Al-Hajj Sayyid Ahmed Chowdhury, Rtd. Divisional Commissioner & President of “Al-Markaz-ul-Hidaayat -Wal-Ehsaan,” No. 58, Dhanmondi R.A. RD No. 16, Dhaka 1209 , Bangladesh
The advent of the Christian missionaries in this country started in the last part of the 16th Century of the Chris tian era during the reign of Emperor Jahangir who then ruled this Indo -Pak-Bangladesh subcontinent. The European traders fro m E ngland, France, Spain and Portugal began to pour into this country in search of fortune and along with them came their religious counter-parts the Christian missionaries known as Padris or fathers with the object of converting our people to Christianity. Along with them came arms, ammunition and soldiers on the plea of protecting their merchandise and forts were built for housing them. History tells us how thereafter through conspiracy and application of force and fraud, the Muslim empire was liquidated and usurped by the Britishers. The Christian missionaries played a vital role in this crooked game. They were not however very successful in their pur pose of converting Muslims to Christianity. This is because of inherent weakness in the Christian doctrines of trinity and vic arious atonement which had hardly any appeal to reason and conscience and could not stand before the truth of Islam. These Padris, therefore, limited their activities to non-Muslims mostly idol-worshipping Hindus and Aboriginals many of whom were converted to Christianity.
After 200 years of subjugation the people of this subcontinent regained their independence leading to the emergence of two independent states in 1947 viz., India and Pakistan. Seeds of dissention were, however, sown by the Britishers before they had left . As a result the state of Pakistan was later split up leading to the emergence of Bangladesh in 1971.
In Bangladesh during its early period secularism was adopted as one of the principles of state and the religion of Islam was practically banned. The Christian missionaries of the world considered this a golden and unique opportunity and began to pour into this country in large numbers hitherto unprecedented and worked vigorously to attain their objective of Christianising our people.
This time they did not limit themselves to non-Muslims i.e. Hindus, Scheduled Casts, Aboriginals etc. They have started working amongst the Muslims not only of the poorer classes but also the educated and the elite classes of Muslims of this country and particularly the juvenile students. The aim is ?not just converts but converts who will win others? in fact, the dirty Christian missionaries have been hatching a big plan to convert this country into a Christian country in the way they have done and have been doing in the African countries, the Philippines and Lebanon . This will be clear from Australian The Baptist Mission's plan for Bangladesh which is reproduced below:
Missionary organizations in huge numbers mostly church based from various countries of Europe , America, Australia, Japan and other countries have started their missionary activities in this country. All these organizations have their branches in almost all the towns and important places in Bangladesh. Virtually the whole of Bangladesh including rural areas have been covered by a network of Christian missionary workshops. They have set up a large number of relief centres throughout the country from which they are distributing free relief goods e.g. old and second hand clothes, tinned milk, biscuits, medicines, vitamin tablets etc. to the poorer section of our people. They have set up colonies for rehabilitation of our distressed and uprooted people viz. Dattapara, Adamjeenagar, Haluaghat, and other places. They have established many schools, colleges, hospitals, farms, factories, technical training institutions, vocational training centres where our poor people work as trainees and trainors and receive their various favours. They have also been acquiring land in the interior on a large scale. They have set up seed farms, horticultural farms and other a g ricultural organizations. In this way they are winning the hearts of the people and gradually by hook and by crook these poor people are being caught into their net and converted to Christianity.
Besides, they are also distributing free or at nominal prices innumerable literature on the Bible and Christianity to our educated section and especially to our juvenile students. These literature are in various kinds viz : -
(a ) Suitable extracts from the bible t o show that Jesus is the only born son of God (Nauth o- Billah) whom God had sent and then crucified him in order to relieve humanity of the con sequences of their sins provided they accepted Christianity i.e. acknowledged Jesus as God, son of God and the savior of mankind . .
(b ) Lucrative stories of conversion of Muslims to Christianity after being convinced by the beauty of the theory of trinity and vicarious atonement. Trinity means that God exists in three persons viz. God the Father, God the son and God the holy ghost. And vicarious atonement means that all your sins are pardoned if you are a Christian. .
(c ) False stories of atrocities committed by Muslims on new converts to Christianity but still their faith in Jesus could not be shaken . .
(d ) Challenging the Qur'aanic / Islamic view that the present Bible is materially interpolated and does not exist in original.
(e ) Literature vilifying Prophet Muhammad (sallallaaho alaihe wasallam) and the religion of Islam .Recently one such book of theirs named ?No fear in death? has been proscribed by the Government of Bangladesh as it contained slander against the Holy Prophe t (sallallaaho alaihe wasallam) and the Holy Qur'aan.
Our information is that in this manner more than five million (5 mi l lion) of our people have been converted to Christianity and quite a huge number of them are in the queue. For Allah's sake, please take heed and wake up and make utmost struggle to combat these shaitaanic missionaries. If vigorous steps are not taken i m- m ediately it is apprehended that a substantial portion of our people may be converted to Christianity as has happened in South Philippines and many other countries. These foreign missions it is learnt have taken a programme to convert at least 5 million Muslims every year, beginning from the border areas. In fact, the hill areas have already been largely converted.
In these dreadful circumstances it will amount to culpable neglect of duty if we still sit idle and live our lives in worldly comforts, especially the majority of our Ulama-e-Kiraam, who are very neglectful of their duties in this great field to combat the existing missionaries worldwide. It is about time that this knowledge be conveyed to the Muslim Ummat and that we should awaken our people and the Bangladesh Government, including other Governments of the so-called Islamic countries, to the dangers of Christian propaganda and ourselves and our Muslim brethren of the world to a sense of duty to meet the challenge. Suitable literature and books should be written to explain Islam viaa-vis Christianity and other religions following the Qur'aanic principle ?Call to the Pat h of your Lord with intelligence and good counsel and explain the case to them with good reasons and kind behavior.? The fallacies which pervade doctrines of trinity and vicarious atonement should be brought to light with good manners and sound argument . How beautifully this principle has been explained in the Holy Qur'aan: ? There shall be no compulsion in religion for truth is clear from error? . Allah is the Friend of those who believe in Him. He leads them from darkness into light. So he who gives up the evil ones an d takes to Allah he catches a very strong handhold which will never break. Allah hears and knows. As to those who reject Faith ( Truth) their friends are the evil ones. They lead from light into darkness. They are the companions of eternal Hell fire?. (A l - Baqaraa h - verse 256/257).
Apart from writing literature, we, especially the Ulama -e-Ummat should also start setting up relief organizations and take up development projects e.g. farms, factories, separate schools and colleges for male and females, vocational training centres, hospital s etc. To give economic and medical aid to our poor people on a wide scale so that they need not have to run to the doors of Christian missionaries to sell their Imaan in lieu of food and fabrics. In the Holy Qur'aan Allah has laid great emphasis on the importance of ?charity? as a part of pious conduct. Moreover, a minimum amount of charity viz. Zakaat has been made compulsory on all Muslims who have extra savings after meeting their prime needs. If we Muslims had listened to the call of Allah in this regard we wouldn't have had to face the present sick and evil situation. By and large we have failed in our primary duty to our poor brethren as laid down in the Scripture. Even now if we can revive the institution of Zakaat in an organized manner there will be no lack of funds to meet the costs of relief operations to help the poor. There will be no need for our people to seek succour from the Christian missionaries. This cannot, however perhaps be done unless we make efforts to establish full Islaamic Shariah and have a full Islaamic State (Insha-Allah Ta'ala)
Recently, a few Muslim missionary organizations have grown up in Bangladesh perhaps as a matter of necessity to meet the challenge but all these organizations suffer from financial difficulties. Distribution of food and relief to the poor and destitutes and their rehabilitation is a duty of the Government. Organizations are actually helping the Government in this aspect of their duty.
It is therefore, very incumbent upon the Governments to help these inst i tutions after checking their genuineness. It is a pity that our people and our poor Muslim brethren are running to the Christian missionaries and getting caught up in the net. O' Honourable Ulama-e-Ummat, I greatly fear that if precautions are not taken here now, we may well have to see the history of the South Philippines, the Lebanon, and the African countries repeated in our country Bangladesh ? May Allah forbid. And the world's second largest Muslim country may also turn into a Muslim minority country in the near future.
In order to counteract the baneful effects of Christian missionary propaganda in Bangladesh, the following suggestions are offered.
(1 ) A wel l-chosen committee comprising of pious, God - fearing Muslims should be appointed (not fussaaq and fujjaar) with wide powers to correspond with local Government officers and to call for evidence for enquiry. And a survey should be made regarding : - .
(a ) The extent o f their activities viz ,
i. Number of these organizations.
ii. Number of personnel eng a ged by them both locals and non-locals.
iii. Number of centres opened by each of these organizations.
iv. Area of land under occupation of each centre and total area acquired by them.
(b) Modus operandi adopted by these missionary organizations e.g.
i. Grant or relief in cash or kind.
ii. Other items of aid e.g . housing, education, medical and loans totally free of interest etc.
iii. Opening of hospitals, dispensaries, nursin g homes, orphanages, home for old people, destitute women etc.
iv . Schools, colleges, vocational training centres etc.
v. Bible societies and public libraries, clubs, recreation centres, farms, factories, agri-research centres etc.
vi. Distribution of literature. We should procure their literature and examine them to write literature to counteract their effect.
vvi. Number of churches old and new. Should call for proform a report from them. A questionnaire should be prepared. This survey will give us the guidelines for our counter acting action.
I have been told that these shaitaanic and evil missionaries after they get a person into their fold for conver s ion to Christianity make him / her stand upon the Holy Qur'aan and then take oath from him / her by touching the bible with reve rence. Thereafter they send him to a remote centre of theirs. All these should be investigated. Some evil missionaries we are told also work as spies.
(2 ) There should be new legislation compelling these organizations : -
(a) To register themselves with the Department of social welfare or ministry of relig ious affairs where all particulars should be recorded.
(b) To report to local authority if and when they convert any person from one faith to another.
(c) To ensure that no person is converted by foul means against their will. Every conversion case should be reported to the nearest magistrate whose duty it will be to examine carefully if the conversion has been purely voluntarily. There shall be no conversion except on affidavit befor e a 1st class magistrate.
(d) To provide that all local union councils must report all cases o f conversion in their areas to the S.D.Os. including post cases.
(e) To provide that all loca l councils must look after their destitute beggars and poor orphans and widows etc. Government should provide them with funds for this purpose or empower them to impose a poor rate if necessary.
(f) Our Islamic missions and other philanthropic voluntary organizations s h ould be substantially helped by the Government to establish and run more:
(i.) Orphanages
(ii.) Destitute homes
(iii.) Vocational centres
(iv.) Adult education centres etc.
Most of our missions suffer from lack of funds and some of them run to the foreign embassies for help. The genuineness of our local organizations should also be examined carefully by the Government.
One great reason why Christianity is preferred by some of our educated and half educated people is because of their lack of knowledge of the fundamentals of Islam. Islamiat should be taught as a compulsory subject in all stages of education up to B.A. Degree with suitable curriculum. Literature to counteract Christian missionary propaganda should be written and then distributed in large numbers to all schools, colleges, union councils, thanas, Mosques and all literature Government employees either free or at nominal price. In this connection I may state that a few books written and published by Al-Mar kazul-Hedaayat - Wal-Ehsaan could not be printed in adequate number for want of funds. Government may come to our help in this regard. Government may consider if these may be printed by the printing press of their own.
Bangladesh is a country of mosques where, by the Grace of Allah, we have about one hundred thousand Mosques, if not more. The Imaams who regularly lead the prayers in those Mosques are naturally held in high esteem by the people in general and the musallis in particular. As such, they can play an important role in educating the people on religion and influencing public opinion. I think it would be very useful if we could harness these Imaams by imparting a short form of training on Islam and acquainting them with the baneful activities of the Christian missionaries and their modus operandi and objectives. The Imaams in their turn could educate the people in general and the musallis in particular about the evil and shaitaani effects of Christian missionary propaganda. They could explain to them the shallowness of the principles of the Christian Faith viz. Trinity, Vicarious atonement etc. Moreover they can keep an eye on the Christian propaganda machinery and inform the local authorities and / relevant organizations about conversions done by them by foul means of economic pressure and dupes.
An effective way would be to train up Muballighs (preachers and Daa'is of Islam) and then post them to affected areas. In fact, there should be regular institutes for training Muballighs so that our regular preachers could go around the whole country and abroad worldwide preaching Islam to those who have not yet been blessed with the light of Islam. In these institutes, specialized knowledge could be imparted to our trainees on various aspects of Islam a nd other religions so that they could be in a position to preach Islam by bringing home to the people the beauties and perfection of Islam. This would be in line with the Qur'aanic injunction and command:
?Call people to the Path of your Lord with intelligence and good conduc t and argue the case with them with kind behaviou r? (A l - Qur'aan 16: 125).?
In recent years a large number of Santals, Garos, Schedule Cast Hundus, Chamas and Buddhists have started embracing Islam out of their own free will, being impressed by the intrinsic values of Islam conveyed to them by volunteer Muballighs. But after embracing Islam they became totally destitutes and helpless because according to the law of these convertees cannot inherit their paternal properties for having changed their faith. It is our social and religious duty to rehabilitate then socially, economically and education ally. We should have a programme for their rehabilitation with provision for their education, vocational training, medical facilities etc. Though this would be a costly affair.
WE WOULD HEART - BREAKINGLY AND DESPERATELY APPEAL TO ALL MUSLIM MEN AND WOM E N THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE WORLD, ESPECIALLY OUR ULAMA-E-UMMAT, MUBALLIGHEEN, MUFASSIREEN, MUHADITHEEN, MUJAAHIDEEN , MASHAA'IKH AND THE WEALTHY MUSLIMS WHOM ALLAH TA'ALA HAS GRANTED ENORMOUSLY TO ENCOURAGE AND ASSIST US FINANCIALLY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IN OUR DIFFICULT TASK IN THIS REGARD. IN THIS REGARD I WOULD VERY STRONGLY REQUEST ALL THE IMAAMS OF ALL THE MUSAAJID AND MADAARIS ETC. TO INTRODUCE AND EFFECTIVE SCHEME TO RAISE MONEY CONTINUOUSLY AS AN ON-GOING PROCESS AS THIS WILL FALL IN THE CATEGORY OF JIHAD-E-AKBAR.
AT THE SAME TIME THE ULAMA-E-UMMAT ARE RE-QUIRED VERY SERIOUSLY AND URGENTLY THROUGH OUT THE WHOLE WORLD AND BANGLADESH TO WORK, COMBAT AND ERADICATE THESE EVIL AND SHAITAANI MISSIONARIES. IT IS A TRUE FACT THAT THOUSANDS OF OUR ULAMA-E-KIRAA M THROUGHOUT ENGLAND, AMERICA, CANADA, SOUTH AFRICA AND WORLDWIDE ARE SITTING IDLE AND RESTLESS AND ARE NOT PREPARED TO PROPAGATE THEIR HARD EARNED ILM -E - NUBUWWATIN MADAARIS, DAARUL-ULOOM ETC. INSTEAD THEY ARE LEADING LIVES OF LUXURY, COMFORTS AND HEEDLESSNESS AND ARE INVOLVED IN DISOBEYING ALLAH AND SINNING OPENLY.
Inspite of all the brisk activities of the Christian mis sionaries an d the draining of their money to dupe our poor people from their Imaan we hope we may InshaAllah be successful not only in counteracting their propaganda but Allah may even favour us with power to bring home to the Christians the Truth and perfection of Islam if we can implement our schemes effectively and collectively as a Jamaat. We have no right to remain idle and become on - lookers to the game played by the Christian missionaries. I t is only when we will work extremely hard day and night with faith and full trust in Allah Tabaarak Wa - T a- Ala and courage that we can expect success. We would however invite our intelligentsia to give their earnest thought to the problems and favour with their well considered views to formulate an effective and comprehensive form of action. Jazakumullah Khairaa Ahsanul Jazaa.
Please photocopy? as much as possible and ass on? to all the Ulam a- e - Ummat, Imaams of all Musjids, Madaaris, Tablighi Mara-akiz, Islamic centres, Islamic organizations, friends, relatives and to as many people and places as possible in your country an d worldwide. This is youth Fardh duty. Please do not remain ignorant and idle. Remember you will have to face Allah Ta'ala one day and answer about these lost children of the Ummah who have and are becoming Murtads in millions.
T HE MAKTAB PROJECT — THE DUTY OF EVERY MUSLIM TO AID THIS STRUGGLE THE MAKTAB STRUGGLE GUARDS THE IMAAN OF THE NEW GENERATIONS OF THE UMMAH—IT IS THE STRUGGLE WHICH I S THE BULWARK AGAINST THE SILENT KUFR ONSLAUGHT
Millions of the Ummah's children in thousands of remote villages all over the World of Islam are being weaned away from Islam by a variety of forces and influences, all favourable for the global Kufr machinery. Living in remote villages and in poverty, these children of the Ummah are deprived of the very elementary Deeni education so vital for the preservation of their Imaan. Growing up in stark ignorance of Islam and exposed to the onslaught of the kuffaar missionary machine and other influences of atheism, whole generations of Muslims have abandoned their Deen. In consequence of this silent disaster, some former Muslim majority countries in Africa have become majority Christian states. The apathy, neglect and uncaring attitude of the Ummah have contributed greatly to produce this sad state of affairs.
There is an imperative need—a Fardh Obligation—to establish Maktabs (small Madrasahs) in these villages to provide essential basic Deeni Ta'leem for the lost children of the Ummah. Millions of Muslim children are growing up without the knowledge of the Kalimah, Tahaarat, Salaat and Qur'aan recitation. While this lamentable and disastrous situation continues with its incremental process of degeneration, the Ummah is asleep and gripped in a stupor of lethargy, groveling in pomp and luxury. We appeal to all Muslims to step forward and aid the Waajib Maktab Struggle.
In different parts of the world, small concerned Muslim groups are working to counter this tide and avalanche of ignorance, the flames of which are being fanned by the machinery of kufr ignited by the enemies to destroy the Ummah and Islam. Among these groups the Mujlisul Ulama too is in the field. By the pure fadhl of Allah Ta'ala, we have succeeded in establishing approximately 1200 Maktabs catering for about a hundred thousand children who were a couple of years ago totally deprived of the very basic Deeni Ta'leem necessary to guard their Imaan. The maintenance of these Maktabs— small huts in which the children are taught — is an uphill struggle. While Muslims do contribute towards the upkeep of these Maktabs, the funding is generally restricted to the Month of Ramadhaan. The Ramadhaan contributions are grossly indifficient to ensure the smooth operation of the Maktabs throughout the year.
It costs about R6000 ($1000 ) — wages for an Ustaad — to operate a Maktab for a whole year. We are sure that there are innumerable Muslims who can comfortably afford to sponsor a Maktab for a year . This is a wonderful, and in this day , the best form of Sadqah Jaariyyah — a Sadqah which ensures perpetual thawaab even after death. It is an easy and a spiritually exhilirating effort to build up one's capital for the Aakhirah. It is our fervent dua that Muslims will respond generously, for their own goodness and for the sake of the Ummah's children, and with the intention of gaining Allah's pleasure. We hope that Muslims will keep in mind this Waajib Project, not only during Ramadhaan. It is a continuous strug- gle. It has to be kept in mind throughout the year.
